Quote(s) of the Day: Michael Savage

I normally don’t pay too much attention to conservative talking heads. Pundits like O’Reilly, Limbaugh, Michael Savage, and Sean Hannity are nothing more than stubborn, unyielding media bullies who knowingly blur the line between factual journalism and biased commentary. They really have nothing of value to say, and therefore don’t warrant my attention.

I did, however, stumble on these utterly disturbing quotes by Michael Savage, host of the hugely popular syndicated radio show The Savage Nation, thanks to Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

After a Eurocentric tirade about the inability of immigrants from non-European, non-Christian countries to assimilate into American culture, Savage says, “there's been no Middle Ages for the Muslims coming into America. It's insanity to be bringing in millions of people who have no Middle Ages yet, they haven't even gone through the Middle Ages. They're never going to be compatible with America.” No Middle Ages? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Not compatible with America? Islam is the fastest growing religion in the U.S. and has become the country's 2nd largest religion. Seems to me like Muslims, in large, are doing quite well here.

Savage didn't stop there. Oh no, he just kept running his mouth, making a claim so preposterous that it doesn't even warrant any sort of response: "It will happen overnight, and it could lead to the breakup of the United States of America, the way the Soviet Union broke up."

Was he done after that zinger? By no means as he finished his October 13th broadcast with the following terribly misguided comments about gays in California: "California, unfortunately, is in the hands of the far-left homosexual mafia. They unfortunately don't even understand what's good for them. They don't understand that voting on the left side of everything is actually in their disinterest, not in their interest -- that if they gay community ever understood what's in their interest they'd become conservatives, by and large. But they are also very confused, as anyone could figure out by their death-style." Please, Mike Savage, explain how it would be in the interest of the "homosexual mafia" to back conservatives? Simply look at the voting record of most conservatives on Capitol Hill and tell me how your statement is not utterly false.

It's remarks like those that remind me exactly why I dont pay much attention to Savage, O'Reilly, and the like. They really could care less about the content of their comments, as long as they grab some attention, build their egos, and climb the latter to being a made man in Godfather Bush's neo-con mafia.

Savage has sited (on several occasions) the irony between 'Islamism' (wikipedia definition) and the American Left. If islamic extremism takes hold in the western world then the people who by and large represent the left (feminist women, homosexuals, non-religious people) are going to be the first people to be oppressed. I don't understand why the left is so quick to defend people like Ahmadinejad. Under Sharia law gay people do not get to go the bar to socialize and then hit an after-party.. No, you know what happens? You get F***ing Killed! Don't even get me started on your lesbian humanities professor being told to wear a burqa.
I am not a religious person or a conservative by any classic definition of the word. So please don't write me off as 'One of Them'. I just don't think that the people on the Left understand how dangerous Islamism could be to our freedom.
I think that this is ONE reason why Michael Savage feels that the Left is really not in the interest of the millions of homosexuals who support it's agenda which seems (almost universally) to be passive and sympathetic toward toward the idea Islamic expansion into western culture.

I'm sorry, but I like halloween and buttsex too. Multi-culturalism is for people who don't know who they are. Let's keep America FREE!

While I can understand the thrust of what you're saying, Evan, it seems to me that it arises out of a shallow understanding of liberalism. The point is to allow differences of opinion and of practice...be they religious, political, sexual, etc. The practices of Islam being one of those differences does not threaten liberalism, but strengthens it while at the same time softening the brunt force of religious fundamentalism. To fight bigotry with bigotry acheives nothing. It must be fought with oppenness. Islamic fundamentalism, it seems, is not capable of destroying the liberal ideal...is not capable of destroying freedom. There will be a give and take, of course...but the greatest threat is not that Islamic fundamentalism overtake liberalism but that we allow our own fundamentalism to overthrow our basic freedoms.

Touche'. I feel that your view is pretty emblematic of what the broader scope of liberal America is seeing. I think that most everyone is able to grasp the 'breadth' of islamic expansionism on an intellectual level. I just don't think that many of our homegrown leftists have come to terms with the 'DEPTH' of what this could entail. There seems to be this stubbornly naive tendency to believe that IF... IF you treat someone, who wants to kill you, with openness, dignity, and respect THAT somehow, without fail they will abandon their desire to kill you, and become your friend.
I think this gets back to a more fundamental question about how you value life. Are you willing to die for peace? Or For Freedom? (Choose)

*Again, don't paint me a bigot. I'm conjuring a hypothetical scenario of ABSOLUTES. Obviously, liberals are not going to be laying down in front of tanks while Good ol' Boys Hurl molotovs from the back of their 4X4's at the rioting muslim hordes. DUH=P i know that almost every muslim in the western hemisphere is NOT a jihadist. That is not my implication at all.

I have to disagree. Savage is probably one of the most intelligent people I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. The gay mafia regardless of what the people in the country want continue to push their sexuality down your throat. I could careless what someone does behind closed door. I just don't want to here about it everyday. Yes, the muslim religion does teach hate, and most muslims hate the freedoms we have hear. Maybe you should talk to a muslim and you will find out just how deep their dislike for typical American way of life is. Different sectors of muslims have been killing eachother for thousands of years. They have also vowed to make sure Christianity and Judism go down. That is just my thought on the latest postings.
